Dry red wine Michelangiolo Romagna Sangiovese Superiore Riserva, Calonga di Baravelli, 0.75, 2016
- Brands Calonga di Baravelli
Wine of deep red color.
Calonga wines are the result of a careful collection of grapes from the vineyards and winemaking, combining traditions and innovations that convey the wonderful features of the Romagna terroir. Calonga was founded in 1977 by the dedicated and passionate winemaker Maurizio Bavarelli. The winery is now run by his sons Lorenzo, Matteo and Francesco. The 10-hectare estate is located between the Adriatic coast and the first spurs of the Apennines, on the hills between Forlì and Faenza, in Castiglione, a region known for its ancient history and unique wildlife. Immediately after buying the farm, Maurizio Bavarelli began running it as a family business. He also planted new grapes, such as Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, alongside the old Sangiovese, Albana and Pagadebit. Vinification of Romagna Sangiovese Superiore Riserva DOC 2011 Michelangiolo from Calonga is traditional. Aging takes place in French oak barrels for about a year, which helps to smooth out the strong tannins typical of this grape.
Ideal for pasta, meat dishes and mature cheeses.
Exquisite aromas of cherries, mulberries, plums, violets with shades of coffee, nuts and sandalwood.
Balanced taste with high acidity, which is smoothed by aging, soft tannins and signature bitterness inherent in Sangiovese.
